Meet with us
Once the consultation appointment is scheduled, our lead injector Rinku will meet with you to see if our treatment plan is suitable for your situation.
The purpose of our assessment is to see if you're a candidate for Botox injections. These injections are relatively painless and take a few minutes to inject Botox into your jaw muscle(s) to help relieve your pain.
We will thoroughly discuss this process with you during our consult.
If the procedure is deemed to be suitable, we will then confirm the procedure with your Dentist to make sure they are in the loop and schedule a follow up appointment with you to complete the process.
If together we find the treatment isn't suitable, we will then inform your Dr so that they can work with your to find an alternative option for your needs.

Jaw relief
Once you, your Dentist and our Medical Aesthetics Nurse are on the same page, we'll book a 45 minute appointment to complete the procedure.
We can complete this at your Dentists office or our Kitchener Clinic.
The procedure most commonly consists of injecting 30-40 units of Botox per side. via 3 injections. IE approximately 60-80 units in total via 6 injections for both sides of your face .
If successful, you'll notice pain relief after about 2 weeks of performing the procedure. In some cases, we've had patients no longer need a night guard.
You'll likely remain pain free for approximately 6 months.
Some private insurers will reimburse you for the cost of the Botox as it will be prescribed by your Dentist (please check in advance). However, the cost of the procedure is not covered by insurers.

Follow-Up

We'll arrange a next day AND a two week follow up call to see how you feel after the procedure. We'll also send the details to your Dentist to keep them in the loop.

Tell me more...
What if I have a night guard? If your over night guard is no longer effective. Massage therapy can also provide relief. In cases where these forms of treatment haven't provided you relief from pain, Botox injections could be an option for you.
What costs are involved? Botox is a prescription medication that can sometimes be covered through Private Health Insurance (drug coverage). It's best to check with your Provider to see if claiming the prescription is an option. The procedure to perform Botox injections are provided as fee for service and are not typically covered through health insurance plans.
Treatments are not painful, consist of injecting a small needle into your jaw muscle. The actual injections take a few minutes, but we like to provide time for questions.
If your insurance does NOT provide coverage, the total investment for relief is $600+HST. Relief usually lasts up to 6 months.
If your insurance DOES provide coverage, the total investment for the procedure itself is $200+HST.
